Applications are invited for the following posts to be filled up by Direct Recruitment in National Institute of Hydrology (A Govt. of India Society under Ministry of Water Resources), at its Headquarters and Regional Centre at Guwahati, Belgaum, Patna, Kakinada, Jammu and Sagar or any part of the country where the Institute may set up offices/ regional centres from Indian Nationals satisfying qualifications and experience as under:
1. Scientist C
a. Scale: Rs. 15,600-39,100 + Grade Pay of Rs.6600/-
b. Post: 03 (ST-01, OBC-02)
c. Age: Below 40 years
2. Scientist B
a. Scale : Rs. 15,600-39,100 + Grade Pay of Rs.5400/-
b. Post : 02 (ST-01, GEN-01)
c. Age: Below 35 years
3. Senior Research Assistant
a. Scale: Rs.9,300-34,800 + Grade Pay of Rs.4600/-
b. Post: 01 (GEN-01)
c. Age: Maximum upto 30 years
4. Technician
a. Scale: Rs.5,200-20,200 + Grade- II Grade Pay of Rs.2000/-
b. Post: 01 (GEN-01)
c. Age: Between 18 and 27 years
Qualifications and Experience
(A) Essential Educational/Academic Qualifications for the post of Scientist C
Post Graduate degree in engineering in any one of the following specialization: Water Resources / Hydrology/Hydraulics / Irrigation/ Soil & Water Conservation/ Environmental Engg. / Remote Sensing Application in Hydrology/ Electronics / Computer and having B.E. / B.Tech. Degree or equivalent either in Civil., Mechanical, Agricultural, Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering or Ph.D. in Physics/Chemistry/Earth Science / Environmental Sciences/ Hydrology or related areas with specialization in anyone of the following areas: Computer Science/ Instrumentation / Geo-hydrology / Hydro Geology / water Quality / Hydrometeorology / Nuclear Hydrology / Remote Sensing Applications in Hydrology or any other relevant area. Discipline in which the candidate should have M. Sc., degree will be in Physics / Chemistry / Hydrology / Earth Science / Environmental Sciences / Meteorology or any other related subject.
Experience for the Post of Scientist C
At least 5 years experience in teaching / research/design/ planning and investigation in the area of hydrology and water resources which should be at Scientist B or equivalent level (pay band of Rs.15600-39100 plus grade pay of Rs.5400/- or equivalent) with proven ability of conducting research and with experience in handling applied research problems in the relevant areas of hydrology and water resources.
(B) Essential Educational/Academic Qualifications for the post of Scientist B
Post Graduate degree in engineering in anyone of the following specialization: Water Resources / Hydrology / Hydraulics / Irrigation / Soil & Water Conservation / Environmental Engg. / Remote Sensing Application in Hydrology / Electronics / Computer and having B.E./B.Tech. Degree or equivalent either in Civil., Mechanical, Agricultural, Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering or Ph.D. in Physics / Chemistry / Earth Science / Environmental Sciences / Hydrology or related areas with specialization in anyone of the following areas: Computer Science/ Instrumentation / Geo-hydrology / Hydro Geology / Water Quality / Hydrometeorology / Nuclear Hydrology / Remote Sensing Applications in Hydrology / Computer Science or any other relevant area. Discipline in which the candidate should have M. Sc., degree will be in Physics / Chemistry / Hydrology / Earth Science / Environmental Sciences / Meteorology or any other related subject.
Desirable Qualifications (For the post Scientist C and Scientist B):
I) Higher specialization in hydrology and water resources with Ph.D, in Engineering for engineering post graduate and Post Doctoral Work for Ph.D. in Sciences.
ii) Publications in reputed National and International journals dealing with hydrology and water resources.
(C) Essential Educational /Academic Qualifications for the post of Senior Research Assistant.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in Civil/Electrical/Computer Engineering as may be specified according to requirement. OR Post Graduate Degree in Physics / Chemistry /Mathematics / Hydrology/ Computer Applications / Earth Sciences after acquiring Bachelor’s Degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Computer Application as may be specified according to requirement.
(D) Essential Educational /Academic Qualifications for the post of Technician Gr.-III.
Passed High School with Science from a recognized Institution / Board with 5 years of relevant experience. OR National Traders Certificate (ITI) or equivalent at the relevant trade with 3 years of relevant experience as may be specified according to requirement. OR National Apprenticeship Certificate with 2 years of relevant experience as may be specified according to requirement. Note: Preference will be given to the candidates holding a ITI certificate (2 years) in the trade of Refrigeration and AC mechanic.
General Conditions and Requirements:
1. All the above posts carry usual allowances as admissible under the Central Government Rules.
2. Age will be relaxed for persons already in service in the Institute and other Govt./ Semi-Govt./ Autonomous Organizations as well as candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC community and physically handicapped persons, as per Govt. of India Rules.
3. The requirement regarding experience is relax able at the discretion of Screening Committee in the cases of candidates belongings to SC/ST, if at any stage of selection, the relevant Committee is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite qualifications are not likely to be available to fill up the posts reserved for them.
4. Screening Committee can exercise discretions regarding fulfilment of experience criteria in the specified pay band and equivalence of pay band.
5. For an engineering post graduate holding a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, the time spent on Ph.D. shall be considered as research experience upto a maximum of three years
6. In case of candidates already employed, the forwarding authority should certify that the particulars furnished by the officer are correct and that no disciplinary or vigilance case is pending or contemplated against the officer. Up-to-date annul confidential report dossiers of the applicants should also be sent when requested by the National Institute of Hydrology. It may also be confirmed that in the event of selection for the appointment, the officer concerned will be relieved of his duties as and when requested. The integrity of the officer should also be certified.
7. Candidates already employed in Government/ Semi-Govt./ Autonomous Bodies should apply through proper channel. Applications not forwarded through proper channel will not be considered.
8. Candidates applying for more than one post should submit separate application for each post along with required fees in the form of separate Demand Draft.
9. If the number of candidate is too large, considering the number of vacancies to be filled for a particular post, the Institute reserves the right to short-list the candidates to be called for interview based on the eligibility criteria decided by the Screening Committee.

Applications in the prescribed format in duplicate along with attested copies of certificates, mark sheets and testimonials and an application fee in the form of Demand Draft of Rs.100/- (One hundred)only for the posts at Sl.Nos.1 and 2 and Rs.50/- (fifty) only for the posts at S. No. 3 and 4 in favour of “National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee” payable at SBI Branch of IIT Roorkee should reach “Senior Administrative Officer, National Institute of Hydrology, Jal Vigyan Bhawan, Roorkee, -247667, (Uttrakhand) before the closing date. No application fee will be charged from the SC/ST candidates. The closing date for receiving applications will be 60-days from the date of publication of the advertisement in the Employment News.
12. The candidates called for interview will be paid TA as per Institute’s Rules.
13. Recent passport size photograph should be pasted on the top right hand corner of the application.
14. Applications, which are not complete in all respects, are liable to be rejected.
